Victory of HC Neftekhimik in a KHL Game in Saint Petersburg
On December 26, a regular-season game of the Kontinental Hockey League took place in Saint Petersburg at SKA Arena, where the Shanghai Dragons hosted Neftekhimik from Nizhnekamsk. Neftekhimik made its debut in the IHL (Interethnic Hockey League) in the 1995/96 season and has been a KHL club since 2008.
The matchup at SKA Arena was intense and high-scoring, ending with a 4–3 overtime victory for the visitors.
The scoring opened in the 11th minute as defenseman Artyom Serikov put Neftekhimik ahead. Late in the first period, the Shanghai Dragons equalized, but in the second period Neftekhimik regained control—goals by Andrey Belozerov and Matvey Nadvorny gave the visitors a 3–1 lead. In the third period, the hosts fought back to level the score and force overtime, where Nikita Khoruzhev netted the decisive goal to secure the win.
During their stay in Saint Petersburg for the game, HC Neftekhimik was accommodated at Domina Pulkovo. We were delighted to welcome the team to our complex and wish the club continued success this season and many more victories ahead.
